As we head into the new year, we want to share a reminder that U.S. Youth Soccer—the governing organization for WYSA, MAYSA, and Waunakee Area Soccer Club—is updating how age groups will be defined beginning with the 2026–2027 season. There will be no impact on the Spring 2026 season; the new age group structure will take effect starting in Fall 2026. Neil Cumming, our Director of Coaching, said “I believe this is a positive move and will result in children playing soccer with their school friends and will be a better balance for their development in the game.”
For the 2026-2027 Season, we expect that all players will register and attend tryouts in these re-designated age groups. Players interested in being considered for an older age group will be expected to first try out in their own age group and then receive approval from our Director of Coaching. We expect that playing in an older age group will be reserved for a small group of athletes who are both physically and psychologically capable, and where we believe it will create the best environment for the athlete’s individual player development. More details and updates from WASC will be shared as they become available.
High School BOYS AND GIRLS
THERE WILL BE NO FORMAL TRYOUTS. Registration will open June 21st at Noon to all players as that is when players can accept offers from other clubs. Anyone who is interested can register. High School Boys and High School Girls will be a tournament only program, 2 practices per week and a few scrimmages vs other local clubs. Teams will be made for tournaments based on age and skill and will vary throughout the season.
Fees for the HS Program are:
$150 for Club Fee
$250 for Coach Fee
$50 jerseys fee (includes a pink and a black jersey top if you are new)
Tourney fees TBA- you only pay for the tournaments you attend.
