Position Type: Part-time

 

About the Club

 

WASC is a community-based 501(c)(3) youth soccer club dedicated to providing a positive, development-focused environment for players of all skill levels. Our mission is to develop players, coaches, and teams while fostering a lifelong love of the game. We have over 700 players in our club, from a highly-regarded Academy program with ~250 players from U6 – U8 up to High School age groups. We are a partnership club of Forward Madison Football Club.

 

Position Summary

 

The Director of Coaching (“DOC”) is responsible for the overall technical direction and coaching philosophy of the club. This role provides leadership, mentorship, and oversight to coaches, ensures consistent player development across all age groups, and works closely with club leadership to support the long-term growth and success of the organization. This position has the opportunity to coach developmental and/or competitive club teams in addition to the DOC role.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Technical Leadership & Player Development

 

  • Enhance, evolve and oversee a club-wide coaching curriculum aligned with age-appropriate player development principles
  • Ensure consistency in playing style, training methodology, and coaching standards across all teams
  • Evaluate player development and lead player placement, evaluations, and tryouts

 

Coach Education & Support

 

  • Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support club coaches
  • Lead coach education sessions, meetings, and on-field demonstrations
  • Provide regular feedback and professional development opportunities for coaches

 

Program & Team Oversight

 

  • Design and oversee team formation, seasonal planning, and competitive placement
  • Support coaches during practices and games as needed
  • Coordinate with league, tournament, and governing bodies as appropriate

 

Administration & Communication

 

  • Collaborate with club leadership on strategic planning and program growth
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and players regarding development philosophy and expectations
  • Support conflict resolution and ensure a positive club culture

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 8 years coaching experience in youth soccer
  • Recognized coaching license (e.g., USSF, United Soccer Coaches, or equivalent)
  • Prior experience as a Director of Coaching or Technical Director preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of the developmental arc from U6 grassroots through High School Age groups
  • Demonstrated commitment to player-centered development and positive coaching
  • Experience working with volunteer and paid coaching staff

 

Eligibility

 

  • Expected availability for practices, games, meetings, and special events (evenings/weekends)

 

Compensation & Benefits
